Bring Your Characters to Life
Collaborate Verbally With Your Story's Characters. Wow!
Here’s How Characters on Call Brings Your Characters to Life
In text-based collaboration, characters deliver a range of responses to each message. You scroll through them, choose which one to use—as is or edited—and text your next message. A boring, typo-prone experience. It was never going to take off.
Verbal Roleplay Is the Wow Factor
Creating characters that engage in free-flowing conversation requires more nuance than texting. Your character must get it right the first time. As in real life, there’s no do-over.
How We Create Authentic Characters
Converse With your Character
The key is to engage in conversation with your characters before their personalities are fully developed. We use your assessment to tune the character profiles until they mirror the established characters in your story, or new characters as you define them. Think of it like training a puppy—patience, repetition, then breakthrough.
Define Your Persona and the Character Will Follow
After each brainstorm, let us know if your character falls short of your expectation and we’ll tune their profile. We may suggest sample roleplayer messages to elicit conversations that will be most useful. For example, put the character in high-stress situations, friendly banter, or moral dilemmas to see if their responses are consistent and authentic.
A determined character may follow through on tasks, even when faced with obstacles, and display focused and intense emotions, often furrowing brows or clenching fists.
An empathetic character might listen attentively, offer comfort and support to others, and use a soft, compassionate tone of voice and gentle gestures.
How We Collaborate with You
For an existing character, we build their profile from manuscript samples that exhibit their traits, goals, and personality. For a new or changing character, we work from your character synopsis, notes, or archetypes.
We also suggest personas for you to adopt when you brainstorm with your character. These can include yourself as the author, other characters in the story, or anyone in your authoring ecosystem. Characters remember your persona to improve their conversations with you.
You can create multiple personas and switch between them during your chat. For example, start as the author and brainstorm story ideas then switch to someone in the story to workshop an idea with your character.
We don’t use a one-size-fits-all forms based, automated approach. We assess each author requirement individually and structure our tuning process to suit your preferences.

As much as I would like to try this, I can't afford a $99 cost at this point. I'm retired, and have a limited expense account. The only way I can get this, is if I get more paid subscribers on my own page. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to pass. I will stay subscribed so I can learn more about this...sorry.
I like the "brainstorm with your characters" emphasis: quite literally bringing them to life. Hope you're well this week, Keith? Cheers, -Thalia
